If I’m getting into ServiceNow, what is it?
ServiceNow, Inc. is an American software company based in Santa Clara, California, that supplies a cloud computing platform for the creation and management of automated business workflows. ~ wikipedia
There are so many things ServiceNow can do.
- Ticketing system for IT issues
- Workflow automation software
- Integrate 3rd party apps
- Used as a platform to develop custom apps for your business
- So many other things
Why Would You Want It?
It’s goal is to unify and simplify your business.
Instead of having 5-10 different applications running different portions of your business. You have 5-10 different ServiceNow modules that run on the same platform. Data can be shared, workflows automated.
Who Is Using It?
Probably a lot of companies you interact with everyday.

Why Am I Studying It?
I’ve built a career in custom development, why invest in this single platform?
- Growing company and ecosystem which provides opportunities
- With the market uncertainty, gives me another area for employment
- My technology background could give me an edge
- Long term, I think there are opportunities for freelancing
- I’m able to do this on my own time
Parting Thoughts
I don’t think anyone ever “masters” ServiceNow. It’s a huge ecosystem with many moving parts.
