Can I Skip the 'Gambling' Phase?

I’ve been listening to interviews with traders, and a lot of them have a very similar beginning.

• I lost all my money.
• I was blowing through prop accounts.

In essence, they were gambling.

The traders that I’ve listened to eventually grew out of that phase.

But can I just skip that phase entirely?

I Will Still Lose Money

Skipping that phase won’t guarantee I make money. I’m guaranteed to lose money. But I won’t lose it recklessly.

I am ignorant about trading. I’ve never done it before and I don’t know much about it.

Even though I’m ignorant, that doesn’t mean I have to be undisciplined.

That’s my current goal. Approach trading with a sense of professionalism and discipline to avoid dumb mistakes.

We’ll see what happens.
